About Rosewater BSC

History of the Club

A proud tradition A vibrant future
Nestled in the heart of the community, the Rosewater Bowling and Social Club stands as a testament to nearly a century of sport, social life, and local spirit. Formed through the union of two iconic local institutions, our Club continues to thrive — blending tradition with a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Where It All Began
In the late 1990s, conversations began to unite two of the district’s longest-standing clubs:
The Rosewater Sports and Social Club, established in 1933The Rosewater Bowling Club, founded in 1924.
After years of collaboration and community support, the two organisations officially came together — and the Rosewater Bowling and Social Club was born.
The Rosewater Sports and Social Club
From its home on MacGregor Terrace, this club became a beloved gathering place for generations of local sportsmen (and, later, social members). At its peak, membership soared to over 300 people — with demand so high there was often a waiting list.
Highlights of Club Life
Weekly games of table tennis, darts, 8-ball, and the legendary ring bowls Major events such as Melbourne Cup Day, Christmas parties, and the exclusive Annual Dinner A vibrant, inclusive community with memories that still echo in the Club today
Did you know? The Club was often referred to as “The Tennis Club,” despite few remembering an actual tennis court. Most believe it was eventually replaced by the car park.

The Rosewater Bowling Club

Celebrating its Centenary in 2024, the Bowling Club has long been a hub of both competitive and social bowling in South Australia.
A Legacy of Success
Up to seven teams competing across divisions
• Champions in State Open Pairs • International representation by Nathan Pedersen, the Club’s youngest-ever bowler • A long history of community fundraising through BINGO nights
Respected figures like Max Thomas, Jack Miller, and Charlie Wilke helped shape the Club’s facilities and culture — with member-driven improvements like clubhouse extensions and greens maintenance still visible today.
Amalgamation and Growth
By 2018, formal talks began to unite both Clubs officially. Committees worked closely to:
• Align constitutions • Establish inclusive membership structures• Renovate and refresh Club facilities
One standout result: the Northern Wall renovation, which created a stunning new vantage point and refreshed the interior and exterior appeal of the Club — all thanks to the dedicated work of our members.
